Assuming a recession in 2024, what is the best position to secure? I’d prefer a long market position in an ETF or something to both avoid short fees and diversify exposure. Maybe a bond fund? How would you bet on a recession?
I'd bet that there is no recession in 2024. We were supposed to have one in 2023 but the significance of recent economic numbers is that the possibility of two negative quarters is about to expire. Yet we had many so called "experts" last year insisting we'd be in a recession summer 2023.

I definitely see a sharp downturn later this year, but since we were near a bear last year, recession of 2 consecutive negative GDP maybe hard to come by.

Germany started recession a few days ago. Germany dax broke the record high just a few days ago. Recession means good news for long term stock investors?!?!?!?!?! Recession means don't short the stocks?!?!?
I trade VIX products like VXX, UVXY and etc., not VIX itself. Commission is the same cuz they are traded like stocks.
