Are futures options eligible for the 60/40 tax rule?

    All futures and options on futures are 1256 contracts.

    Since options and futures (1256 contracts) are taxed at 60/40, you would think that options on futures contracts should be taxed at 60/40 of THAT gain. Chew on that!

    That would make sense if the only way to trade a FOP was to be forced to also trade the future the option is based on.
