You're doing it wrong Joe. Many of us elected you because we want the rule of law upheld:

President-elect Biden wary of Trump-focused investigations, sources say
Biden has told aides that he's concerned that investigations would divide the country but that he would leave decisions up to an independent Justice Department.

WASHINGTON — President-elect Joe Biden has privately told advisers that he doesn't want his presidency to be consumed by investigations of his predecessor, according to five people familiar with the discussions, despite pressure from some Democrats who want inquiries into President Donald Trump, his policies and members of his administration.

Biden has raised concerns that investigations would further divide a country he is trying to unite and risk making every day of his presidency about Trump, said the sources, who spoke on background to offer details of private conversations. They said he has specifically told advisers that he is wary of federal tax investigations of Trump or of challenging any orders Trump may issue granting immunity to members of his staff before he leaves office. One adviser said Biden has made it clear that he "just wants to move on."

Another Biden adviser said, "He's going to be more oriented toward fixing the problems and moving forward than prosecuting them."

Any approach by Biden's Justice Department to Trump, his staff, his associates, his business or his policies wouldn't affect investigations by state officials, including Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., who has fought to obtain Trump's tax returns.

Indeed.Honestly I never thought he wouldn't fuck up.I didn't vote for him in the primary and only supported him in the general to get Trump out.

Thankfully we have The NY prosecutors,I don't think they will back off Trump and if Biden doesn't interfere too much SDNY will go after him imo.

He was one of the "harder" hitters along w/Kamala on the issue. I had a glimmer of hope. If this is his direction, he's likely to intervene in state investigations as it'll be a reflection of his admin.

The country will deserve a 2024 Trump presidency I suppose.

the thought crossed my mind. "C'mon Donnie, leave the house and I promise you won't get a spanking." only for Biden to proceed w/a spanking. Could be, but I remain disillusioned.

Joe Biden needs to only concentrate on being prepared for January 20th 2021 (inauguration day) via trying to have much of his team put together so that they can be running when their feet hit the ground because they'll obviously be "behind" after the efforts of Trump to delay the inevitable.

The wolves already circling Trump and family...waiting for January 20th when he no longer has the protection of the Oval office...let them do what they do when its time to feed.

Biden will not need to be involved and he can concentrate on the task at hand like the Coronavirus, Vaccine Distribution, Healing America, Respect for the Oval Office, Respect by Allies, Real Growth in the Economy so that there's no longer mulitple mile long cars waiting to get food at the food bank and fixing what Trump tried to destroy that weaken the Democracy.

In that case, investigations into Hunter's corrupt business dealings and any involvement with his father should go "full steam ahead"!

A lot of people are very angry with Donny, he would be safer in prison in the first couple of years until tempers cool...so maybe keeping him at liberty will work out.

But state cases remain unaffected. He is now building as big a war chest so he can afford this, the stalling of the transition is likely the same as he did with the casinos.

He used the law to stop the investors liquidating and bled all their remaining investment dry over years.

He has pardoned near nobody, that is going to be one massive pay for freedom fest when he releases his list as well.

That could also be the case; but what I have in mind is,

A leak from his team this early (rather than after someone has had time to want to grind an ax with the boss) is likely intentional.

Trump made POTUS calling shots re: "independent" parts of government, the norm. It's not.

I believe Biden will not want to be seen as using his office to spearhead prosecutions of political and semi-political figures. And to make sure that's clear, he'll "publicly" call for the opposite -- as he's done.

So, later, when the DOJ does, in fact, proceed, he's "on record" as opposing the action.

It is especially important for him to distance himself as Trump will likely announce he's running in 2024; and label investigations as a continuation of the made up "witch hunt." So yeah, Biden needs to be hands off.

But if the leak was not staged, then it could be that he believes that the talks of a Presidential Crime Commission will come to fruition, and would therefore be the origin of any investigations/prosecutions.

Bottom line, imo: Biden of course wants to bring Trump to justice; but he wants to, and is being advised to, do it smartly ... and not like Trump would do it: stupidly and bombastically.

So no, Biden won't publicly say that he'll/they'll bring Trump to justice, even if that's his real intention.

    Chin up buddy.

Probably what this was for - a tit for tat. You guys stop sniffing around my back yard and I'll do the same.

What's funny is people who thought Biden would be different somehow (in this regards). As if the last 47 years of politics was suddenly going to bring an awakening.
