The thing about delusion, if you are happy believing deluded beliefs, then you will remain there.

Most often, we are happy there because its comfortable, surrounded by comfortable group think of our peers.

If we think about Russians atm who believe Putin is doing a good job in Ukraine, one will understand humans easily gravitate toward or are easily susceptible to delusion as it's convenient to not face reality.

The bible is another source of delusion, with fantastic stories of miracles, power, happiness, life, where the blind can all of a sudden see, where all of human failings can be sourced back to a devil, a convenient scapegoat.

One only needs to look at the results of delusion.

Nigerian Catholic church service attack leaves 50 dead, as gunmen open fire and detonate explosives

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari called the attack on the Catholic church "heinous". (Reuters)

Gunmen have attacked a Catholic church in south-west Nigeria during Sunday mass, killing at least 50 people including women and children.

    Key points:
    • The identity and motive of the attackers were not immediately clear
    • Attacks such as this are rare in Nigeria's south-west
    • The Vatican said Pope Francis was praying for the victims

Several Nigerian news outlets said gunmen had fired at worshippers and detonated explosives at St Francis Catholic Church in the town of Owo.

The identity and motive of the attackers were not immediately clear.

"It is so sad that while the Holy Mass was going on, unknown gunmen attacked St Francis Catholic Church… leaving many feared dead and many others injured and the church violated," said Catholic church spokesman in Nigeria, Reverend Augustine Ikwu.

Reverend Ikwu said the bishop and priests from the parish had survived the attack unharmed.

However, the presiding priest was abducted, said Adelegbe Timileyin, who represents the Owo area in Nigeria's lower legislative chamber.

The Vatican said Pope Francis was praying for the victims who had been "painfully stricken in a moment of celebration".

    .................................................................

Let's review this logically for a moment.
The church collects tithes from parishioners.
    Church invests the money.

Disaster strikes church and the response: "The Vatican said Pope Francis was praying for the victims"

I have never heard once, ever, "The church will financially support all the victims and their families".

What I do hear constantly: "Thoughts and prayers".

I would imagine, if there is financial support, it will be limited and come from the locals, friends.

Are you aware that saying something isn't true or real just because you haven't experienced it is also a form of delusion ?

Here's another aspect of delusion to consider.
American delusion that by arming themselves with weapons they will be safer.

I mean, we need to arm ourselves because we can't hope on police protection.
....because we can't trust the government.
.....because we can't trust criminals in the neighbourhood.
......because I just feel safer with a gun.

But what is overlooked, can you trust yourself?

The increase of guns and ammunition which we thought would keep us safe in the community has agravated a problem, not alleviated a problem.

Would you say guns in households is an American delusion?
I'll tell you what is a delusion, if civil war breaks out in America you will survive in the wilderness because you own a gun and can survive by hunting.

Anyhow, maybe one day nuclear weapons will come to bite us.

Unfortunately we can't trust others nor ourselves.

And getting back to religion, you cant trust the stories in the bible as truth.

In nature / creation we have variety.
Different species of animals, different species within animals, eg different types of dogs, cats, horses, fish etc.
Then we have different humans, different species, nationalities, colors, body shapes etc.
Then we have different interests, some humans enjoy animals while others dislike animals.
Some humans enjoy bike riding, water sports, gymnasium, cooking, while others prefer TV, junk food...etc etc. So lots of variety.

For some strange reason, incomprehensible reason, christians think all humans will and should enjoy christianity religion. But they know that all 100% humans will not accept their doctrine, so they shovel them off for damnation and punishment.
Sociopathic christians are content that non conformists should suffer because they chose their own way, were not accepting of being cloned sheep in a cloned herd.

The brainwashed clergy wish to brainwash the flock to step into line.
Damned if you do, damned if you dont.

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday characterized the rate of school shootings in the US as a mark of global shame.

Addressing Becky Pringle, the president of the National Education Association during a House Oversight and Reform Committee hearing on gun violence, the New York Democrat asked, "Between 2009 and 2018, how many school shootings did the United States have?"

    "288," Pringle responded.

Ocasio-Cortez then asked how many school shootings the US' G7 partners — Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the UK — collectively had during the same period. "Five," Pringle said. That means that between 2009 and 2018 the US saw 57 times more school shootings than other G7 countries combined.

"288 versus five. This is not normal. Not only is it not normal, it is internationally embarrassing and delegitimizing to the US. Because for all the billions and trillions that this body authorizes in the name of national security, we can't even keep our kids safe from their school being turned into a war-zone," Ocasio-Cortez said.

The US spends far more on defense than any other country in the world — $782 billion this fiscal year — but has the highest rate of gun deaths among high-income countries. Moreover, guns are the leading cause of death for children in the US. The US also has highest rate of civilian firearm ownership in the world.

When I was reading this today, it made me think it has many similarities to the jesus story. It's easy to see how someone is promoted to become an eternal leader.
    https://asia.nikkei.com/Editor-s-Pi...es-party-elders-as-he-marches-toward-3rd-term

I'll copy & paste some quotes from the article so you can see the similarities....

...........A political document released in a rural part of China has raised eyebrows for including an unprecedented expression to praise President Xi Jinping.
It was a combination of the word "eternal" and "lingxiu" (leader).
A communique issued after a Communist Party meeting in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region noted that it is necessary to be loyal to the core leader, "support the leader forever, defend the leader and follow the leader."
"Forever" has connotations of a lifetime leadership. "Linxiu" was a title used only by Mao Zedong......

......Guangxi, which is now at the vanguard of efforts to pave the way for Xi to become an eternal leader, also broadcast a documentary TV series praising the leader.
At the party's upcoming national congress in Beijing, Xi will attend the Guangxi regional session alongside delegates from the region. Guangxi, therefore, has become closely intertwined with Xi's political fortunes.
The title of lingxiu, leader, had been all but monopolized by founding father Mao. In Mao's case, it was more commonly used as the "great leader."
The use of phrases such as "eternal leader" and "people's leader," suggest that Xi is aiming to acquire the status of "party chairman," which Mao retained for life.......

........There apparently has been push back from various wings of the party -- old cadres, those who do not belong to Xi's faction and liberal intellectuals.
In one case, the propaganda division of the party in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, published a red booklet to help people study Xi's eponymous ideology, "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era."
But the booklet evoked memories of "Quotations from Chairman Mao Zedong," also known as the "Little Red Book," the reading of which was advocated by radical Red Guard student supporters of Mao during the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976).......

.......They must not argue about major political policies of the Party Central Committee without good reason ... must not spread politically negative opinions [and] must not participate in illegal social organization activities."
Those who violate discipline "will be severely punished."........

.......Xi is still aiming for a title that bestows greatness, and many close aides are competing to help him succeed in his quest. They are engaged in a fierce power struggle for survival. Naturally, they will be divided into winners and losers.
Who prevails will be decided in the coming weeks........

All it takes, charisma, gift of gab, self promotion, loyal followers (think Trump and his band of diehard believers), then threat of punishment. Next thing you know you are a revered eternal leader.
Later on these people become Gods with superhuman powers, think Nth Korean leaders or Catholic church saints.

Humans, forever suckers to worshipping 'leaders'.
