pre-trading on eurex

I don't understand this pre-trading concept.
so is it actually trading or is it just a period to enter your bid and ask orders?

if it trades, Is it better to avoid the period because of whipsaws?

You will see the "bid/ask price" moving.

No trades taking place at this time (i.e. no "last price" seen).
