To compare the straight options vs spreads in trading the OIH it would be better to look at the loss potential or the risk than at the profit potential Just a thought
I was just going to roll but I got a good chance to leg out today when it dipped and bottomed out at 10:00. I was expecting a bit bigger run on the good news today, but I did get back enough to make it worth it. Good point. I do spreads but also directional trade mostly indexes or etfs and i shares try to avoid single stocks. Hate to wake up in the morning to see news that gaps an option on a single stock the wrong direction.

I think the environment is great for bear call spreads on SPX, NDX, and OEX right now. We might very well continue a bit higher from here, but by OCT we are going down. 2 cents

I'm glad at this point that I closed and took the profit off the table, just too much strength in the market lately so I pulled the trigger. Still made decent money on the trade, enough that I can buy you a drink. I know a couple places that have penny beer nights .
