At times Israel was independent and fought with one empire against another. A history with a lot of turmoil and strife. However there is one constant through all of it; Jews resided in the area known as Israel throughout the entire ancient period.
And so did Arab. When Abraham was but a boy, there were hundreds of thousands of Arabs living throughout the ME.
At the time in the Israel area these people were known as Canaanites, not Arabs. The Cananites were just one of many groups of people in the region. The term "Arab" applied to nomads wandering in the Arabian Peninsula and is first found in Assyrian records from the 9th century BCE. Only in more modern times, the term "Arab" has evolved to encompass a broader cultural and linguistic identity associated with the spread of Islam and the Arabic language.
