My real name is Jan Reichenbach, I am originally from Aachen (western edge of Germany) where I visited the Rhein-Maas-Gymnasium between 1987 - 1996 and moved to the bavarian capital Munich in the summer of 1997. I became interested in financial markets after reading "Market wizards" by Jack Schwager, volume I in I believe 1994. Together with "One upon Wall Street" by Peter Lynch a must read ! Unfortunately, I never found the correct horses to bet on and actually was on welfare for a short period of time (it was called "Hartz 4" here in Germany when I was dependent on it), but have decided that trendfollowing would be the way to go for me if I had meaningful funds - that's why I post setups here on elitetrader that I believe have a good probability of hitting 2 x or more of their stop loss level knowing that trend following has a less than 50/50 winner : loser ratio.

Personal heroes I admire a lot and would love to meet in real life are, of course Warren Buffett (won't happen) and Ken Griffin of Citadel fame (may happen, who knows).

Active management in the hope of outperforming the S&P 500 is very competitive as markets become increasingly efficient, and thus trading edges that may generate alpha become smaller and smaller.
For all beginners who read this, it very unlikely that a trader, no matter what her / his experience is, will be able to generate a 20% compounded annual growth rate (cagr) or even higher p.a. / per year.

The legendary Wellington fund offered by Citadel suffered a drawdown of almost 60% in 2008, just to show how even the brightest investors can be caught on the wrong foot and lose their last shirt in the biggest casino on earth !
