Quick question: does anyone know of a site that plots the A/D (for NYSE and/or NASDAQ) line? I'd like to look at a few months or more of history if possible. Thx...
Stockcharts.com has daily and weekly charts of the cumulative NYSE and Nasdaq a/d lines in the "Gallery View". http://stockcharts.com/webcgi/gall.exe?Gall.web+$NYAD http://stockcharts.com/webcgi/gall.exe?Gall.web+$NAAD -v
Thanks! This site is great! Also: Put/Call is in there as well. Simply do Market Summary and go down quite a ways and you'll see it.
There was a commentary on CNBC today about the uptrend in the NYSE a/d line. The guest said that the computation is being biased by preferred stock, closed-end funds, and other instruments which are interest-sensitive and not representative of the broad equity market. When you take these out, the NYSE a/d line ends up going sideways instead of up. -v
balderdash! the AD line has always been polluted by these (prf, closed end funds, etc). Each time the same opinions are cited. You shouldn't rely on only ONE indicator. But this is an incorrect critique of the AD line.
