Americans spent over $80 billion on lottery tickets last year, more than on movies, books, video games, music and sports tickets - ""

  2. I wonder how much on unnecessary phone upgrades...

My phone company rang to say I am the only one using a Galaxy Note 1 and seemed to think my human rights were being violated, by me :) The external antenna port is essential at my other home but it really is still fine for calls and WhatsApp, on the 3rd battery but still ok.

  3. I hear ya. My cable company informed me that I had been "specially selected" for an upgrade.
Translation: Apparently I am the only one in the state who has not signed up for the porn channels- YET!

It's awesome having these companies looking out for you.

Based up that, we can only conclude that what people truly desire is simply to have freedom from the daily grind of life. They desperately want the financial ability to escape into a permanent new life of their choosing, which is something that a movie, book or other temporary form of entertainment will never give them. And they will pay for that chance of freedom no matter how bad the odds are against them.
