    Excellent.
I don't know how well she will do, but the fact that the Democrats and liberal press hate her indicates she must have some praiseworthy policies in mind.

    haha; no, think again

  3. There are actually some dumb liberals that think she will end the life of public schools. How stupid can you get. I realize the bottom 33% of liberals can not read but this is ridiculous.

While I support a number of other Trump cabinet selections, I do not support Betsy DeVos for Secretary of Education. I am concerned that she will simply push for-profit education entities as the solution for everything while ignoring all the other issues in the education sector.

For-profit schools have terrible records at the college level (take a look at all the for-profit colleges whose "graduates" are unemployable with huge loans and under 10% placement rates). For-profit K-12 charter schools also have a terrible record in the U.S. with over 50% being shut-down and accused of improper practices in many states including N.C.

I don't have very high expectations for DeVos - a woman whose family drove the Amway scam. (BTW - I worked for a large company in the early 90s that had a strict policy of firing any employee immediately that pushed Amway or any other MLM scam. I wish these policies were brought back.)

  6. I would call that refresingly honest. All donors are expecting something in return. I doubt she can screw up the education system more than it already is. There was no department of education prior to 1980. Somehow we managed.

  7. I'm neutral on DeVos so far, but gotta agree that her quote does reflect, largely the reason donors give money to political parties. Especially when you see her quote before "meme editing".

"[M]y family is the largest single contributor of soft money to the national Republican party….I have decided, however, to stop taking offense at the suggestion that we are buying influence. Now, I simply concede the point. We expect to foster a conservative governing philosophy consisting of limited government and respect for traditional American virtues. We expect a return on our investment; we expect a good and honest government. Furthermore, we expect the Republican party to use the money to promote these policies, and yes, to win elections."

If she kills Common Core crap, and doesn't put something worse in it's place, I am all for her.

Similar to many other things... there are some parts of Common Core which are good; there are other parts (such as the math methods) which are terrible and need to be done away with.
