Tax neutral here. I pay 0% federal income tax and have no state income tax. My only vulnerability is property tax but that is a matter decided locally. I'm heading to the tax assessors office this morning to file for homestead exemption. Just work it. Its entirely do-able via LLC. The new California wealth tax (if it passes) will trap you. Even if you leave the state you will be subject to California's wealth tax for 10 years. Get out of there! If you have money you theoretically have mobility. Use it.

Even options to purchase securities must be assigned a valuation. Holding California properties while residing in Colombia, for example, will not effect escape as you will likely undergo a "residency audit" by the Franchise Tax Board with no statute of limitations. California can audit you forever.
