Before social security there was a strong family structure to care for the old.
Gov't has co-opted social structure, if we get in the way they'll have no remorse.

"... But you say Charlie, I'm just gonna retire and I'm just gonna go golf. I think, what a waste of the gifts that God has given you. What a waste of the wisdom that you have been given just to – kind of just watch TV and to golf. No, there are young people that need you as a mentor..."

Tough shit Mr. Kirk. People can do whatever the fuck they want when they get old and collect back the money the government compelled them to give through their working years.

  5. I’ve always found that an odd expression - is tough shit worse than other kinds of shit? If anything I would’ve thought tough shit was easier to dispose of than soft, spongy or liquid shit.

government didn’t coop anything. Americans gave up the family structure to pursue personal wealth. Blame the boomers.

Ever been constipated due to lack of hydration or fiber deficiency? Ever have a shit that is so dry it lights on fire the millions of nerve endings in your anal sphincter and makes you wish you were dead as you strain to push it out?

    There you have it.

  8. Yeah that makes sense. I was more thinking of having a package delivered and opening it up only to find it was filled with shit. At which point the tough stuff would be the better choice.

Here in the UK there is no "retirement age". From the age of 66 you receive a State Pension based on your mandatory National Insurance contributions over your life, but you do not have to retire, the State Pension on its own is not enough to retire on anyway. Meanwhile employers are clearly prohibited by law from compulsorily retiring any employee.

I have never had a clear idea why the British government got so deeply embedded in the pension business.
