Thus far an interesting read. Unless I'm mistaken most of his
gains were from selling his tech company. There are various
snippets of wisdom and insight for investors.

I've yet to read his foundation, or where he started from.
No one starts from a million dollar business and/or
    trading/investing unless they're already wealthy.

    Thanks for the article.

  4. Money and success is overrated, or a double-edged sword.
Everyone was more authetically, and naturally, happier when they were younger, dumber and poor.

Buffet seems to have the lifestyle of a regular Hecto Millionaire. With just a private jet needed mainly for business use and a few houses worth around 10 million in total.

Elon Musk seems to have taken it even further and sold his houses. Except for his private jet it seems he now wants to live like a regular person most of the time.

Here is a thought for those on the journey.

"Making money is much easier if you are an a$$Hole".
"Doing it without being a jerk is the real deal."

Consider being that jerk, ruthless, all about my goals, etc for 10-20 years. What type of person, well practiced and rewarded for your behavior, have you become? So you end up 100mil+ rich, but the only people who you are truly friends with, have the same values etc, are just like you. NOW you want to change and be that nice guy?

Consider the other route. You have a community of likeminded people, kind, helpful, respectful, grateful for their life. You make only 10Mil. and you have a bunch of great people around you who are also good people.

So many think ruthless, jerk laden behavior is "worth it". It is truly selling your soul. They learn internet posturing and rudeness as a way to get ahead.

I have about 10 associates who are in the 100+mil club. Only one has a life that I would take over. The rest have: Divorces, megalomania, rudeness, ingratitude, insatiable needs and wants and health issues.

The other 9 are trying to live a more meaningful grateful life, but it is MORE of a struggle to regain their "goodness" than making the money. I don't think they will settle down anytime soon. I don't hang with them much as their path is, for lack of a better description, "sophomoric".

Others who are in the 10Mil Club, about 1/2 are chill and are grateful, interesting, hopeful responsible community minded people. Their post fortune lives have been humane and full of good vibes.

It is not what you do, it is how you do it. It is a lesson everyone will eventually learn if they examine their life with clear lens.

Think about the happiest you have ever been. Usually, not much money is involved.

It all comes down to principles and attitude to life. Usually the origin of all abuse, jerk behavior, crime, seeking loopholes and advantage at others' expense is pride and arrogance. Very few make an effort to keep those inherent traits of our DNA in check. Regardless of rich or poor...

    Everyone uh ?!?
Besides your gross generalization making it hard to take you half seriously, my experience is quite the contrary.
Interesting topic anyway, that comes back up regularly.

Did you not do things in your youth with cost attached that in terms of your today's earnings are a drop in the bucket that you, however, can't repeat for various reasons? Not talking about stupid stuff only but also awesome stuff sometimes born out of naivete or simple mindedness...

Some actions are definitely age specific, hard to do them again once you age too much, or hard to do them before having a certain degree of experience or/wealth.
Having enough money to live off and kids bring peace and purpose I couldn´t attain at a much younger age. Growing old on the other hand is frustrating.
Was lazy to pursue great wealth (didn´t see a way with great odds on how to do it either) once I was more or less settled for life, and chose to live off passive income, but can´t say it´s an especially good option.
Don´t have a clear opinion on the matter btw, interesting topic, just thought the "Everyone was more authetically (sic), and naturally, happier when they were younger, dumber and poor." is very naive. Not much I regret from my youth for one, being poor sucks, and a rough awakening to life didn´t help (although it probably helped in the business world, which is not exactly soft hearted).
Those threads remind me of @rallymode btw, not sure whether he´s still active here, an apparently very successful trader posting occasionally here who seemed to think one shouldn´t engage in very high working hours and financial risks to pursue great extra wealth once they are already comfortable financially, always enjoyed his posts.
