    Hi EliteTrader community,

I’ve been working on a day trading simulator and wanted to share it with you all to get some feedback. It’s pretty simple to use, but it has a few features that might be interesting to some of you:

    • $500,000 virtual trading bankroll for practicing.
    • Anonymous leaderboards, so your performance is private.
    • Detailed metrics to track your progress.
    • No downloads – it’s all web-based and free.
The idea was to create a space where traders can practice without any risk and see how they measure up without worrying about sharing personal info.

If you have a moment, I’d appreciate it if you could check it out and let me know what you think. I’m open to any feedback, suggestions, or ideas on how to improve it.

    Here’s the link: simul8or.com

    Thanks!

I'm just gonna point out the negatives.

    1) I've mistakenly selected "noob" status and received only 25K. Now I want to get the max amount but see no way to reset. I think these tiered bankroll makes no sense. Everyone should receive the same. Otherwise, what's the point of having the leaderboard. The one who starts out with the max bankroll would win.

    2) I see KOSS for 07/03 as default. What makes you think I would not cheat by looking at what happened on that day in my own platform?

    3) I have no way of stopping the chart once it starts. I don't wanna be doing this for 6 hours. Also we should be able to control the speed, eg. play at 2x, 4x, etc.

    4) I have no way of changing the chart timeframe (1 min, 5 min, 30 min, hourly, daily, etc), although I see this is possible with JSON.

    5) I have no way to draw trendlines or support/resistance.

That's all for now. I'll post more if I find any.

    Hi Schizo,

Thanks for diving into the simulator and for your detailed feedback. I really appreciate it. Let me address each of your points:

    1. Bankroll Reset/Equality: You're right - having a configurable bankroll is something that sets this simulator apart from others, but I can see how it creates issues with the leaderboards. The intention was to offer flexibility, but I agree that it may affect the competitive balance. I’m going to come up with a solution that keeps the feature's flexibility while ensuring fairness on the leaderboards.

    2. Historical Data/Default Chart: While it's true that nothing can fully prevent someone from looking up past data, doing so would defeat the purpose of using the simulator as a practice tool. To help with this, there's a "random" button that can select different dates and tickers to keep things fresh and reduce the temptation to cheat. But I get your concern and will think about more ways to address this.

    3. Chart Controls, Timeframes, and Drawing Tools: I completely agree with your points here. These features are definitely on the roadmap and will be added in future releases. As the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day! I’m working hard to get these updates out as quickly as possible.
Thanks again for your constructive feedback. I’m committed to making these improvements and would love to hear more of your thoughts as I continue refining the simulator.

    Best,

That was my point. :banghead: We shouldn't have to do that.

    6) I also notice you can "buy" and "short" at the same time. That's a no-no.

    7) Also instead of providing separate "sell" and "short" buttons, it would be much better to assign both functions to one button. For example, say I buy 1000 shares and then quickly sell 2000 shares. Now I'm short 1000 shares. See how quicker that would be instead of initially selling 1000 shares and then selling short another 1000 shares?

Edit: I notice that 100 long and simply short 200 will end up with -100 shares, so I guess that'll work. But it's a bit confusing at first.

    8) Continuing with #7, you really should offer "reverse" (reverse position) button.

all great ideas, i like the reverse idea. I think I'll add an 'advanced' setting that offers reversals as well as limit orders. I'll also add the ability to clear all of the data including the starting balance not just the trade data.

    9) In addition to #4, we need to be able to magnify in and out of the chart.

    10) There is PRICE (Y-axis), but where is the TIME (X-axis)???

I've added the reverse feature and a ticker list page. More to come.
