Just wondering, how we're different from the other people. I prefer to stay at home with my family, play my Xbox and do some additional research. What about you?
These days, i spend all week racing around with no time to trade at all recently, then spend the weekends BORED pretty much. Visit mates, watch TV stuff, ride MTB maybe back test a chart or to for practice, need something thats tradeable over the weekend
Guys trading for a living have an elevated risk of getting a heart attack or stroke because of the sedentary nature of what we do compounded by stress during rough periods. I usually play tennis on saturdays and sundays and also try to jog a bit. This makes up for sitting at my desk all week.
I spend the majority of my time on the weekends either trading with market replay data or with trading education. I am currently reading Bob volman's new book now NOT because I find it useful for my trading strategy but it is useful to know what other traders are looking at. I do not spend the entire day with trading related things. I usually do an 8 to 10 mile walk on the road and lift a little bit. I also catch up on things like cutting the yard and weed eating in the summer time.
I captain a team playing all clay courts... I play 5 times a week... I read alot of history and philosophy... I love playing tennis... Plus fishing is second to none...surfing and lobstering.
Checking to see if Claymore mines have come in, I already have firewood chopped for six months, extra batteries for electric fencing, the baby alligators doing fine in the moat-they now up to 2 feet long, they sure like that beef am feeding them, they were right, 3 feet of armour thick does stop most direct hits
when I was starting out, as soon as the market would close on Friday I would spend all weekend pouring over IRS Publication 539 to see if somehow I could make just one more dollar in tax savings. If you are just starting out trading full time, the best use of your time on the weekend should be spent delivering pizza.
Amen, you can say that again. -- I have had Good days recently...and I had temporary palpitations on my right knee side area...the vein area was beating like a heart. -- and i'm not old and/or fat either. (I need to learn to calm down, and not get too excited.) I keep a pair of 30lb dumbbells and a 9lb medicine ball next to my desk...I try to do exercises and reps with them every hour or so...to stretch and relax me.
#1 Once you find a good enough edge, the stress is reduced, severely #2 The sedentary issue is real, especially if daytrade, swing traders obviously not an issue However, here's a real solution, a desk threadmill, simple walking speed, 1.5-2MPH will keep you away from the dreaded chair, which is a killer and very easy to type and control pointer at those speeds, as you get better, you will obviously gain more skills to walk faster as you work. Not the main setup but for casual web browsing, ET bitching or casual chart studies works for me. Many times I watch sports or movies as well since I conveniently situated it in front of my TV. Whatever gets you away from a chair or sofa, and the bed, that's for sleeping and shagging.
