November 20th, 2020 ALBANY, NY—There has been a lot of debate on whether or not to reopen schools. And while the science is clear that schools are not a big risk for the spread of COVID-19, Democrats have expressed another fear over people going to school: children learning enough that they no longer trust the wisdom of government or believe in socialism. “People keep talking to me like I’m dumb and I don’t know what I’m doing,” said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. “It’s because when people learn things they think they know better than me -- me, the governor -- so no more schools. I’m shutting them down.” The move has been praised by other Democrats, such as Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. “Whenever I talk about my plans to give people lots of free stuff, people always bring up math,” Ocasio-Cortez complained. “I don’t know what that is, but apparently it’s some crazy right-wing thing you learn at schools that makes you not like socialism. Maybe people should just stay away from schools.” Ocasio-Cortez also pointed out that schooling is unnecessary for the future occupation of staying home while the government sends you checks. As for teachers' unions, their position is that schools can stay closed forever as long as they all still get paid. Still, there is concern that people may try to learn on their own, which is why Democrats are also asking for the help of Big Tech to block queries against their policies and to put a “this is disputed” label on anything questioning Democratic politicians. https://babylonbee.com/news/democra...-kids-will-be-dumb-enough-to-accept-socialism
So you're saying; That kids can't learn via online classes? Because; The same information given online, is different if given in person? The same questions asked online, will receive different answers if asked in person? Homework done at home, but assigned via the internet; will not be as effective as if the assignment were given in person? ... I don't think our society can get much dumber than it is now.
Just to be clear as to what you're suggesting: You're suggesting that the OP is pro keeping schools closed?
Ya' gotta' understand satire and sarcasm. Anyways, let the OP answer your question. I interpret what I interpret. It's like AHHHT.
I understand. If a gwb posted it, I'd know it was meant to be taken sarcastically, wholly. If an anti-school-closing member posted it, I take it to be a sarcastic piece, but meant to suggest something similar is really happening. Somehow, my senses just tell me that the OP is against closing schools.
People might want to look at school closings from the angle of being a kid. If you were going to school right now would you want it closed and you have to stay home all day long? Kids do not get Covid-19. They do not die from it either. Their parents do not die from it either. Maybe once in awhile a grandparent might be in the home and they will get it. Will they die from it? Probably not. The odds are against it. Shutting down schools because Grandma might get sick and might die is a long shot.
If I was a parent today, I would opt to educate my kids with a foreign teacher. So many qualified teachers are out of work the world over. They can teach your kids online. A huge bonus is it would cost far less, the teacher would be committed to ensure your kid learns because now, the teacher can be referred to other students. You do not have to worry about your kid being indoctrinated into Socialism or Communism because, all they would be thought is reading, writing and arithmetic. After you educate your kids, start a family business and you would be teaching your kids real life situations of how to run a business and you have a legacy to leave them on top of it. Taxwise, you pay less taxes too. Can you imagine if most Americans did this, extreme liberal teachers and professors would all be out of a job. It would be karma too.
