How many of you own an ebike? The best thing since sliced bread. I currently own a 48v 13ah,750W, fat (26"x4") pedal assist rear hub mountain bike which I ride every day weather permitting. It's 5 years old now and I wish to upgrade. There's one little problem with it, it hates rain and the motor conks out. I have replaced 2 LCD screens and 1 motor controller. The LCD's blowup in the rain so I've placed insulation tape over the current one's edges where there are joins and where water is probably entering, as well I drilled small holes underneath to allow breathing to prevent condensation. The first controller blew up when the wiring entering the rear hub chafed thru the insulation and shorted the power cable. Anyhow I spent several hours (prolly about 8hrs) hunting online for a new bike. Finally today I may have found one. I want to go bigger than 750W but not too big as the bigger the motor in a mtb usually they start resembling motorbikes with huge tyres which then attracts too much attention. Randride make a nice looking bike but the reviewers say the Chinese suppliers are scammers. I can buy bikes from Europe or USA or Australia but I'm up for starting +$5k. It's best imo buy factory direct China as nigh on all bikes come from there in the first place and I'll only pay +$2k. Paluma do a nice bike, this one is dual motor, full suspension, 2000W with 4.8" Fat tyres. Imo, this bike is too big & it'll attract too much attention. So Puluma do another model at 1000W, with full suspension, 28"x2.8" tyres and torque sensor, top speed 27mph/40kph. This is the one I may buy at EU1399. Free shipping I think. Panasonic or Samsung battery, 48v20AH
If you buy an ebike with a mid drive motor (motor at the pedals) you'll be wanting this for serious hill climbing. Most of my biking is flat ground and short small hills so mid drive not required. You'll pay more for mid drive. Bafang lead the pack imo.
If I were living out bush and hunting again, I'd consider a stealth bomber. This one a baby, only 5000W. Change the tyres to knobblies.
This one is SurRon an electric ebike dirt bike. No pedals, no pedal assist therefore not a bicycle, can't ride on road or footpath or beach, it's illegal. Can only ride on private property.
Dual motor ebikes prolly a waste of time unless on beach/sand. With hill climbing because the front of the bike is lighter, the front wheel begins to skid and a problem with front wheel skidding (including on road) the front wheel will flip out sideways and you'll fall. Sudden acceleration from stop will also spin the front tyre if both motors are engaged.
