I like to short the occasional super fast pre-market pop and drops and there is one part of my process that seems fumbly. I posted a few examples of these trades. Trade Ideas picks up the move. I have that linked to some DAS charts, montage/tape and a short locate window. I typically hit “Inquire All” and then I can see it going though the different routes (right now there are 11 routes) and it seems route 5 is last, then I hit “locate lowest” and accept then trade it. Is this how it is ? It seems if I hit “locate lowest” first or to quick it does not pick up all the routes. It sucks missing these moves for potential $x dollars because I am a cheap sob and am trying to save a nickle with the cheapest locates . But i hate it at the end of the day when my locate fees are in the hundreds+ and often times i barely used most of them. More importantly , the less time i spend trying to figure out my locates means the more time to process the trade, price action etc. I am not automated nor do I want to be (at least not yet). But I was reading a thread where @anderscl and @scubasteve0312 were discussing their API integration with DAS and Cobra and maybe they have some insight of anything I can do better in my process outside of automating ? DAS has been changing the locate window almost every update which is great but it means there is very little discussion or support material yet about how it is now configured. I plan on having more discussion with my broker to be sure I understand all my options etc. But figured since i saw that other thread today i would throw up a post. thanks for any insight.
