For people throughout the Eastern United States who spent January slipping, sliding and shivering, here is a counterintuitive fact: For the earth as a whole, it was the fourth-warmest January on record. It was, in fact, the 347th consecutive month with temperatures above the 20th-century average, the government reported Thursday. That may feel plausible to Californians, whose state experienced temperatures 10 or 15 degrees above normal in some places last month, and especially to Alaskans, where the average temperature was almost 15 degrees above normal. But on a map of January temperatures released Thursday by government weather analysts, the Eastern United States stood out as one of the coldest areas on the planet, compared with seasonal norms. The United States covers only 2 percent of the surface of the globe, so what happens in this country does not have much influence on overall global temperatures. Brazil, much of southern Africa, most of Europe, large parts of China and most of Australia were unseasonably warm in January, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported Thursday. That continues a pattern of unusual global warming that is believed to be a consequence of human-caused emissions of greenhouse gases. Even in the United States, more than a third of the country is in drought of varying intensity. Mountain snowpack in many parts of the West is only half of normal, portending a parched summer and a likelihood of severe wildfires. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/21/s...hasnt-been-as-bad-as-you-think.html?src=rechp
It's because our Climate Reality Denier aka CRD got his rear end handed to him on the other threads so he started a new one.
future currents is a agw nutter troll and introduces no science so I have chosen to just repeat the following... 1. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/02/...-is-flat-wrong-on-climate-change/#more-103569 2. Professor Salby says.... "in the Real world, global temperature is not controlled exclusively by CO2 - as it is in the model world. In significant part, however, CO2 is controlled by global temperature, as it is in the proxy record. " 3. NASA.Science. not the agw nutters from nasa.climate says -- CO2 is one of the most efficient coolants in our atmosphere... Mlynczak is the associate principal investigator for the SABER instrument onboard NASAâs TIMED satellite. SABER monitors infrared emissions from Earthâs upper atmosphere, in particular from carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitric oxide (NO), two substances that play a key role in the energy balance of air hundreds of km above our planetâs surface. âCarbon dioxide and nitric oxide are natural thermostats,â explains James Russell of Hampton University, SABERâs principal investigator. âWhen the upper atmosphere (or âthermosphereâ) heats up, these molecules try as hard as they can to shed that heat back into space.â Thatâs what happened on March 8th when a coronal mass ejection (CME) propelled in our direction by an X5-class solar flare hit Earthâs magnetic field. (On the âRichter Scale of Solar Flares,â X-class flares are the most powerful kind.) Energetic particles rained down on the upper atmosphere, depositing their energy where they hit. The action produced spectacular auroras around the poles and significant1 upper atmospheric heating all around the globe. âThe thermosphere lit up like a Christmas tree,â says Russell. âIt began to glow intensely at infrared wavelengths as the thermostat effect kicked in.â For the three day period, March 8th through 10th, the thermosphere absorbed 26 billion kWh of energy. Infrared radiation from CO2 and NO, the two most efficient coolants in the thermosphere, re-radiated 95% of that total back into space. http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2012/22mar_saber/
and only .3 % support your side of the argument. most of them did not have a conclusion as to whether man made co2 cause warming.
when you troll out the same crap... this is how I will respond for anyone knew who wants to learn the truth.
Ok, but that post does not exclude the possibility that Man is warming the planet to some degree via his CO2 emissions, though.
