From 2004 to 2011, American and American-trained Iraqi troops repeatedly encountered, and on at least six occasions were wounded by, chemical weapons remaining from years earlier in Saddam Hussein’s rule.

In all, American troops secretly reported finding roughly 5,000 chemical warheads, shells or aviation bombs, according to interviews with dozens of participants, Iraqi and American officials, and heavily redacted intelligence documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.

  2. So let me see if I got this straight. The rationale for invading Iraq was to find these WMD's. We find them, but keep it a secret. As the years roll on the Bush administration is skewered time and again for not being able to produce any WMD's. The Bush administration just listens to this knowing that they have found WMD's? Why? Anyone else see something wrong here? Just doesn't make sense.
I'd not saying the weapons never existed. Obviously they did. Why keep it a secret when that was the very reason you went in the first place?

How exactly was Bush right? Bush said Hussein had an active chemical and nuclear weapons program and that the country was swarming with chemical weapons labs.

The weapons they found were leftover chemical weapons from the 80s and were quite possibly provided by the US.

    Big Difference.
