Garrison Keillor on Trump..

Discussion in 'Politics' started by futurecurrents, Dec 14, 2016.

  1. "Raw ego and proud illiteracy have won out, and a severely learning-disabled man with a real character problem will be president. Alas for the Trump voters, the disasters he will bring on this country will fall more heavily on them than anyone else. The uneducated white males who elected him are the vulnerable ones, and they will not like what happens next.”

“He will never be my president because he doesn't read books, can't write more than a sentence or two at a time, has no strong loyalties beyond himself, is more insular than any New Yorker I ever knew, and because I don't see anything admirable or honorable about him. This sets him apart from other politicians. The disaffected white blue-collar workers elected a Fifth Avenue tycoon to rescue them from the elitists -- fine, I get that -- but they could've chosen a better tycoon. One who served in the military or attends church or reads history, loves opera, sails a boat -- something -- anything -- raises llamas, plays the oboe, runs a 5K race now and then, has close friends from childhood. I look at him and there's nothing there.”

Well said Garrison and unfortunately very true.

More weeping and gnashing of teeth. Sorry to tell Mr. Keillor (never heard of him before your post), but if he is an American citizen, Trump is his President regardless of whether he accepts it or not.

As for what happenes next, time will tell.

I would venture to say most Americans voted from Trump to give the finger the establishment and stop immigration.

That he is so flawed is the beauty of the message. Its a message that the media and the unthinking drones keep missing. Keillor is a dope if he does not understand what happened here.

It was a revolt you fools. Trump was not picked by unthinking voters... Trump was picked because he was exactly not what Keillor or any establishment moron would have preferred. Its why Romney did not win. Its why McCain did not win.

No establishment moron puppet .. could even say they were in favor of halting immigration. Hillary... moron. kasich had a chance and got funded by Soros... moroned out. Jeb... moron. Moron after moron candidate stated they wanted more immigration (immigration which includes terrorists.)

Trump only had to say stop immigration and be sincere in his desire to make america great again. That is all there was to it because no one else was saying it.

Whatever you think of Trump, he is a much better choice than Clinton. The people have spoken. And no one really cares what Keillor thinks.

  7. No he's not, he's a fucking nightmare, a shallow ignorant egotistical asshole, and will be a disaster. He will be a test of just how much a president can fuck things up.

And don't project your own low culture illiteracy on others. Keillor is a genius.

  8. I like this.......who does this sound like? Besides me.

    The Lake Wobegon effect

The Lake Wobegon effect, a natural human tendency to overestimate one's capabilities, was coined by Professor David G Myers in honour of the fictional town. The characterization of the fictional location, where "all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the children are above average," has been used to describe a real and pervasive human tendency to overestimate one's achievements and capabilities in relation to others. To support the view that people in general need to believe that they are above average (the Lake Wobegon effect) one author points out that in a survey of high school students, only 2 percent of the students reported that they were below average in leadership ability.

Keillor talks about trump ruining people's lives.

It looks to me like he's already ruined Keillor and fraudboy's lives. :D

They're just trying to project it onto everyone else.
