Isn't that what Carl Ichan and Bill Ackman do? Though theirs is not a rumor but they do help spread the news about their own book.
Yes but they manage billions, so it would make sense that their words move the market, but a random anonymous guy moving the market, bizarre.
I have seen this happen many times during my trading career, especially in industries susceptible to rumors eg oil...
Small cap stocks that trade under a million shares I can see, but $3 Billion, $10 billion, $55 billion companies?? Wonder how much he made off this BS, big money could have been made with OPEX today.
If that's the case, than any one can do it, I should give it a try, buy a boat load of calls then tweet.
I don't know, does freedom of speech not apply? you're saying you hear a rumor and leave it at that, not: I'm hearing a rumor and then telling others they should start buying, I don't know, maybe the route to go is let him tweet the rumors, and piggyback on those.
There's something wrong with that DAMS Consulting tweet spam thing... It has a fixed format. (blank) "rumor" (blank) "will make a (blank) bid for company"... And the rest is fill-in. That is not a human typing. That is generated by a machine. It did not pass the Turing Test.
