Biden and Harris have both mentioned being open to a FTT. I assume all Republicans would be against a FTT. However, which Democrats would vote against it? Would they remove the filibuster? Would they need to in order to create the FTT? Republicans passed their tax bill without 60 votes last time. I don't really care that much if my marginal income tax rates go up a little, I'll survive, but I'm worried about a FTT. I've made $4 billion worth of trades this year on over 200MM shares. The .2% I've heard proposed is $8 million and I don't make that kind of money lol. I would have to find a new way to make a living if that was ever enacted.
Not serious at all. They couldn't get Biden to budge on MJ legalisation during police reform civil unrest nor M4A during a pandemic. This topic is a "spooky commie" argument to distract people who think they'll make it as day traders one day.
Democrats are as beholden to Wall Street as the GOP is.....no way it passes even with a Dem Congress and Prez. Fat nothing burger to scare people....
Hopefully you're right. However, it's gaining traction. Harris supported it. Gillibrand, who's supposed to represent NY, supported it when she ran for POTUS. Hell, Bloomberg, Mr. Wall Street himself supported one.
Bullshit political promises are one thing during an election year...actually beating off lobbyists to pass a law that will hurt large groups of your supporters is nearly impossible. remember all those GOP people who supported building a wall that Mexico woudl pay for? In 2 years of a GOP Congress and Senate and Presidency...shit got done because they really don't want a wall, they just want a win screaming about a wall.
So you don't think that are creative enough to carve out an exemption for their donors? If they keep the House and take the WH and Senate, we will see a FTT in some form.
