I get annoyed with these "how to" or ask an "expert" forums. You ask them a question and the usual reply is: Oh you need an engineer, etc. What kind of answer is that? If a person is presented with a problem it is quite obvious to hire someone in the yellow pages. I think this point gets lost on the "experts". More likely there aren't any experts on the forums. Unless of course you go on a medical web site. Everyone is a freakin doctor.
In particular, I have a construction framing problem on a house. I probably do need an engineer for the math. I've been putting off the inevitable which is finding the formula and doing it myself, which I know nothing and may resort to plan B which I don't like but may have zero choice.
Put the formulae up here someone will be able to do it. It is not harder than trigonometry or geometric progressions is it? If it is not I might be able to do it.
In conclusion. Blah. I found my answer. Odd thing though, the answer was on a web site which had exactly 4 articles. It was one of those dead web sites the contact link etc were broken, etc. I couldn't even thank the guy. The author was an ordinary contractor, not an engineer and the article was titled: "common engineering problems in construction." This search took about 2 weeks off and on and pretty much confirmed what I expected. Can't be done. I guess the moral of the story is, sombudy knows sumpin. but where are they?
More like a stone in my shoe. I don't get headaches though people have said I give them headaches. But life wasn't always this way. Giving op headaches was a learned behaviour.
