I have a regular account and IRA account with IB both for the last 10+ years. In connection with a deposit transaction to IB directly from another institution, IB sent me an email asking to verify my identity for the IRA account by submitting a selfie photo and scan of passport. Has anyone had a similar request? I've never heard of Financial institutions asking for a selfie!
Ideally they should really ask you hold up sign in your selfie that says 'For IB' or similar otherwise it its only a little bit more secure than just the photo id on its own. My son opened a bank account recently and he was sent to the banks website which took the selfie via his phone which I guess will be more secure than asking you to send in your own static image.
It's time for you to jump ship. Plus, considering how large they are, their charts are abomination to say the least.
TD just paid a $3 billion settlement for not have suficient anti-money laundering policies. All banks these days go overboard on their AML because of overly agressive regulations
Are you sure this is not a phishing scam? I have NEVER had these requests from IB or any other financial institutions. What does selfie photo achieve? To prove you are yourself? LOL
