https://www.24-7pressrelease.com/pr...at-the-international-stock-return-competition I clicked a link on facebook and was invited to join a stock discussion group. They wanted me to download an app CIBCK (Apple store) to get stock recommendations. There was no info on the app or the developer so I didn't download. Promises very high returns. Too good to be true. I can't find anything about the competition on mainstream news.
It would be better to build a relationship to your favored CTA, Commodity Trading Advisor. Invest some money and try to get in touch with him. You can also do pre screening on traded instruments and performance and you know that those CTA rankings are genuine or true. A big advantage. If you can get first hand recommendations from that CTA trader that could be your best source then. At least you know that this trader is a legit one and not based on promises or photoshopping.
100% scam for the link and the invitation to the stock discussion group. First there is no such person as "Alexander Fraser" as a stock analyst or stock trader. If you do a Google search for "Alexander Fraser", the only person that comes up is this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Fraser_(Upper_Canada_politician) or this one: https://www.biographi.ca/en/bio/fraser_alexander_1799_4E.html or this one: http://faculty.marianopolis.edu/c.b...yclopedia/AlexanderFraser-CanadianHistory.htm or this list of Alexander Fraser's: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Fraser, none of them a stock trader or analyst. or finally this one who just passed away 10+ years ago: https://www.corkumfuneralhome.ca/obituaries/51471, again not a stock trader or analyst. So clearly, "Alexander Fraser" was a borrowed name and this person does not exist except in this specific link about this "international stock competition" supposedly run by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). About this International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), this organization actually exists but it does not exists in the context of running some international stock competition. International Organization of Securities Commissions is an association of organizations that regulate the world's securities and futures markets. Members are typically primary securities and/or futures regulators in a national jurisdiction or the main financial regulator from each country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Organization_of_Securities_Commissions. In other words, it's a club of financial regulators around the world with members I imagine to be SEC, FINRA from the USA, FCA from the UK and etc. It's not an organization of financial investment firms so I do not believe it would be interested in running some kind of stock competitions. And finally the scheme itself. It's typical of a very popular scam nowadays of "social media" scams where you are invited to join some kind of investment groups where expert advice is doled out by this guru and you either have to pay a fee to receive further of the "expert advice" or it's a pump & dump scheme. https://www.securities-administrato...ups-take-advantage-of-unsuspecting-investors/ And interestingly enough, there is even a reddit forum post of the exact same scheme that you are talking about:
