Defund the police would also strain the hiring pool. There's a few schools of thought here. Either we lose bad elements who don't think it's worth it, or we lose good elements who don't think it's worth it. Society as a whole is much less crime ridden (even if media tries to show otherwise) and less crime needs less cops. I think even an increase in crime is the price of freedom from an encroaching police state.
I dont necessarily support defund the police.Id support increasing pay 50% for cops with associate degrees and 100% pay for cops with bachelors degrees with an associate degree the minimum requirement to be a cop.Probably more for bachelors degrees as they will have other options in the private sector or good law enforcement jobs like The FBI. Dumb asses with a high school diploma and no other skills who choose to become cops because they can make 40-50k a year with only 4 months training vs making minimum wage is the problem.There will always be a huge bad element when these low standards is all thats needed to become a cop.The desperation the police depts are showing now means there will be a ton of bad cops added to police depts in the coming years.The only other option is very strict police brutality punishment that will make these dumb low educated cops think very hard before they violate a citizens rights.
