Jay Leno criticizes modern late-night comedy for alienating half the audience with partisan politics Leno went on to note how late-night comedy has changed amid the current divisive political landscape. "Now you have to be content with half the audience because you have [to] give your opinion," Leno said. ----------------- That's why Colbert was canceled.
Peak life, happiness, was the early 2000's....before stupid smartphones and social media existed which made everyone crazy, mental, fragile, egotistical.
Commies infiltrated the gov't, took over national media and killed comedy. Our institutions took the money and ran, leaving the general population defenseless.
Leno was kind and laid back man in person, I wonder why he’s getting involved when he has so much on his plate? He’s not a conflict seeker.
He's a nice guy, but I didn't find him that all that funny. Nothing against him personally, you understand, just that I preferred Letterman's opening monologues back in the day.
Jay also went after democrats so that would automatically make him less funny for your ilk. Letterman and Colbert's humor was 100% just dripping acid on republicans. That's what you guys call humor. Letterman and Cobert are assholes. Jay Leno is a nice guy. See if you can spot the difference.
You're just a hammer looking for nails. I simply didn't find Leno's humor as entertaining as Letterman's. I don't refer to the subject matter, just the quality of the jokes and their presentation. Letterman's humor was more dry. Better. Leno was okay, and yes he was a nice guy and I'm sure he still is. As for Leno's comment about capturing the whole audience, he misses the point. Republicans can't laugh at themselves. They don't know how. So the only entertainment for them is to shit on anyone unlike them. Late night hosts are the court jesters of our day. From AI: The statement that late-night hosts are the court jesters of our day is a metaphor comparing their role in society to that of court jesters in historical royal courts. While not a perfect comparison, it highlights how these hosts use humor and satire to comment on current events and power structures, often holding a mirror up to society and its leaders. Get over yourself.
Heh, a Canadian trying to explain how humor works. That's a laugh in itself. You guys are like the East Berliners who used to watch American TV being broadcast across the wall while Soviet TV consisted of newsreader sitting at a desk in front of curtains. Although, no doubt- being Canadian- you watch more American tv than I do so I suppose you do have more experience there.
