Hi everyone, ---------------------------------Skip this part if you are busy------------------------- First some background; I have always been a person who liked doing and learning things on his own. During school and college times I liked studying on my own rather than depend on tuitions or coaches. This habit persisted when I entered trading. Even though I bought a few courses, but I never tried to seek a mentor or fellow traders for guidance or general trading conversations. Now I feel like, it might have been detrimental to my overall progress. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have been trading for 4 years, and only recently have solidified a strategy and setups within that strategy that I can say is profitable in different markets and different timeframe. DISCLAIMER: I AM STILL NOT PROFITABLE! However, now I am much more mature and refined in how a look at the setup. For example; earlier I used only consider the setup on single timeframe, now I am looking at the multiple timeframes, context of market, strength of sector, macro-environments. These added layers have allowed me to analyze what is going on in market better, and I know I am very close to become a profitable trader. It is a matter of time. So, I am looking for 4-5 traders who are in similar rung of trading ladder. 3-4 or more years of experience, but still not consistently profitable. I want to create a private group where we can share our experience as traders, guide each other, share great videos/content, and just talk about things that we cannot talk about with our friends and family. What this group won't be about: 1. Extracting trading strategy from each other 2. Selling course or anything else 3. Competition Who is this group for: 1. Serious traders who aren't yet profitable(but close to it) 2. Traders who don't want to just earn a living, but to become crazy rich 3. Who enjoy encouraging and helping others, and don't see this as a zero sum game 4. Who are willing will work their ass off in pursuit of trading excellence 5. Who are willing to sacrifice their weekends for mastery in trading [note] I am not even sure how we will setup this group. But, if I am able to find 4-5 dedicated peers, we will figure something out. Thank You!
Half will leave in the first week and the rest within a month. It's a big ask to collaborate where none are profitable. So eyeball all notifications in the room while trying to monitor your own setups? I've had a room with 30-40 guys for the last six years so I know what works. People think they can/will devote the time to contribute but it's doomed to fail. You need to curate (hate that word) a group that are a value add. It's the blind leading the blind. Don't waste your time.
Based on 2. I'd also say I wouldn't waste your time starting/joining a group that is looking to get crazy rich. If it were to happen (not very likely) great. I doubt seriously any trader that did become crazy rich started out with that as an initial goal.
at least this will help learn something but, a group sounds like the market for lemons... traders that are a value add don't want to give away (waste) their time "curators" don't know who is that much of a value add
Sounds like a circle jerk support group of failed aspiring traders constantly high fiving another and patting each other's backs. Eventually the group will dismantle like all boy bands. Trading is a solo journey of self discovery. It's not a team sport. The quicker you realize that the better you'll be off. And all books and trading courses are for braindead zombie sheep and cattle. You won't find gold or a Holy Grail in those. The only person getting rich is the conman author salesman
You might be right. The idea of a group came because there was no one in my friends and family that understands trading. I just needed a place where I can talk to people who understand trading. If you know what I mean. I am currently looking at reddit and other forums to see if I can get a community. However, the last few times I took a peak into such places, I saw lots of very new traders wanting to make lots of money really fast. Which is not bad per se, but it didn't match where I was in my trading journey. But, thanks anyway for taking the time to write. And, if I may ask, if you were in my position what would you have done?
I forgot to mention. The first year I started trading I made a decent profit, but percentage-wise it was not that much. Then I had to sit and think, if I am risking so much capital and risking in terms of career, whether it makes sense to aim for making just a living or small returns. After that I was clear, my aim should be to make crazy returns or else it would make more sense to do a job. Thanks for replying!
I have always considered trading a solo journey, in fact, that was the main reason I got attracted to it. I am very introvert. But, over the years, I have heard many great traders and most of them talk about benefits of having a community of traders around you. I thought maybe I am missing something by trading in isolation. Thanks for your reply!
Network on here in a product/frequency that you're trading. Open a thread in that forum or open a journal. Eventually regulars will respond and you can take it further. Critical mass in a chatroom is tough to achieve.
