I'm expecting price to move up, possibly alongside an earnings beat — or rather, an earnings beat will be needed to justify price moving up. :)

Anyway will know more Monday PM.

I'm not expecting a big move up...18-19 by AUG4 If it plays out. So for @deaddog...maybe up, maybe sideways, maybe down :)

Looks like MARA is switching business plan to mirror MSTR... Buy BTC and hope it's a perma long.

They just floated a private debt offering and the stock tanked so it will probably come back. MARA & RIOT don't seem to follow BTC price as much as you would think. Neither are even close their highs when BTC last hit highs after the election. It seems these stocks are constantly diluting their shareholders so they are like mREITs or biotech companies.

mREITs (mortgage real estate investment trusts) rely heavily on access to more capital to leverage their main investment in residential MBS. They have very high dividends (8-20%) but are hyper sensitive to the interest rates & the health of the economy. NLY & AGNC are 2 largest.

    Chatgpt says:

Marathon Digital (MARA) Financial & Bitcoin Accumulation Summary
    • Bitcoin Mining & Purchases:
MARA mines about 750 BTC per month, totaling roughly 4,500 BTC over 6 months.
Over the same period, they’ve added about 10,000 BTC to their holdings, meaning approximately 5,500 BTC were purchased externally.

    • Cost to Purchase Extra Bitcoin:
At $100,000 per BTC, the external purchases likely required around $550 million USD in financing, mostly raised through debt.

    • Chart Insights:
      • MARA’s stock price has been relatively flat recently, around $17.25.

      • Total Debt (LTM) has sharply increased since 2023 and now stands at about $2.64 billion USD.

      • Cash from Financing (LTM) surged to approximately $3.71 billion USD, reflecting large capital raises via both debt and equity.

      • Shares Outstanding steadily increased to around 352 million shares, indicating substantial equity issuance.

    • Linking Financials & Bitcoin Accumulation:
MARA raises cash through a mix of equity issuance (diluting shares) and debt borrowing (increasing liabilities) to aggressively accumulate bitcoin.
The purchased bitcoin (~5,500 BTC) beyond mining output is primarily funded by this financing.
Debt continues to rise as borrowing is a faster, scalable way to seize market opportunities and increase BTC holdings.
Interest expense from rising debt further adds to total liabilities.

    • Summary:
MARA’s strategy blends share issuance and debt financing to support aggressive bitcoin accumulation, resulting in:
      • Significant increases in bitcoin assets (~10,000 BTC added)

      • Corresponding increases in liabilities (debt ~$2.64B) and equity (shares outstanding ~352M)

      • Total financing raised exceeds $3.7 billion USD to fuel mining operations and bitcoin purchases.
The ongoing rise in debt alongside equity growth is expected, reflecting a balanced but leveraged approach to expanding bitcoin holdings.

Only way these losing companies try to one up their last minute turn around strategies....buy bitcoin and let it ride....pathetic.

Wait till bitcoin collapses. Every company putting bitcoin on their balance sheets will see their companies go under after leveraging it all on a fairytale.

The way I see it, today is the least likely time in BTC's short history to collapse.

Why do you say that Vic. Don't we have a crypto winter every couple years?

A growing number of large institutions and governments are accumulating BTC, including the US. Every year that passes makes BTC less speculative, even if we should still see adjustments feom time to time, but less severe than in the past.
