NASA just announced New Earth planet is discovered. What does this mean to the stock market in short term or in the long run?
Interesting. If it's rich in mineral resource and if that resource is somehow going to be transported to Earth in the foreseeable future, then it means certain turmoil in the markets. Get the feeling we're heading to Chit Chat.
In short term, seriously, I see space exploration technology stocks will hopefully get a boost. This should last for a really long time. For smart traders, some time in the future, they can do stock trading from the alien earth because theoretically they can see the future from that really far-away long distance! In my dream, I see when the sun dies in billion years later, the life on our earth will migrate to another new home.
Space Exploration stocks? Did someone suddenly invent FTL travel? Otherwise, the point is moot. Or maybe HFT algos can travel 1400 light years and check it out for us by end of day?
It's impressive that they can discover planets 1200 light years away, and have some idea of their composition, orbit, if they're in the habitable zone, etc. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be paying them a visit anytime soon ... maybe in 10 million years ?
I wish Discovery or Science Channel would make some good programs about it instead of endless "chase people through the mud" reality TV shows. Sure they're fun, but not at 100% of the content. They should cut them back a bit and mix with at least 33% intelligent content. Instead I have to wait for Nova to make the program, and they're usually a few months behind the event and all the newness wears off a bit.
