Before I begin - I'll say that I have what appears to be a minority opinion here on ET regarding Jack. Perhaps I'm in the majority and the minority is simply very vocal. Either way I don't really care. I think the man is brilliant. Intellectually he is a superstar (I'm talking way beyond trading here). ET is lucky to have him. I repeat: this is my opinion - feel free to disagree quietly to yourself. I'm not ego stroking because he is old enough and wise enough to know this without my help . So... Jack - my Q for you is this: what books, people, ideas, recordings, films, etc. influenced you the most intellectually... specifically in regards to your problem solving abilities and thought process. The money you can make from succesful trading is nothing compared to what you can do in life with a finely tuned mind. Forget the "chicks and cars" - I'm hungry for self-actualization. Thanks in advance JT
...I am not so sure that it is a minority opinion. I have nearly completed my traverse of all of his postings, and the number of views of them, as judged from downloads of attachments, is quite impressive. Jack's opus is one of the few long-running internally self-consistent dialogues here. My own experience of it is that it is highly heuristic, and that rather than leading to sycophancy it encourages independent thought. I hope that Jack will respond to your request for further insight into the mentality which facilitated his uncanny observations on market action. Best regards. P.S.: If you feel that this post is unhelpful, I shall be glad to delete it.
So why not just send him a PM rather than begin yet another Jack thread? They seem to stack up like old magazines. All you're doing is inviting more of the comments that you claim not to want to hear.
Hypo - ALL of your posts are unhelpful so what's the use in starting now . Only a joke. I too enjoy dark humor from time to time. (but you are still the master of the Kaufman-esque twist). JT
"Gee, I wonder why." dB. I don't know if you Americans use a word that rhymes with merchant banker but you do get boring. And more boring. And more boring. Give it up. Your prepared stuff is good but this is disingenuous rubbish.
Gee, kiwi, you got boring a long time ago. At least I'm only getting there. Give me time to catch up.
LOL ... I cant really compete with u and nirto. This arrogantly elite "if u don't do it my way you are wrong" is as boring as it gets.
