IBKR Pro user here, It's been a real PITA to trade via snapshots, specially with options and let alone spreads. It's that pricing normal? any workaround? My only guess is that i'm a non US user. I like IB very much, but at the moment that real time data pricing would represent almost 10% of my monthly trading income. Sadly for my nationality there aren't many alternatives, but i'm just about to get the Passport for my other nationality that is accepted on TD, I'll make the switch only for the real time data.
Well. Do note that you don't have to pay a charting software fee to IB. So price-wise, I think it is attractive. As you go along, you might want to get specialized charting software. For my case, I pay 3 things : - data feed fee to the brokers - Charting software fee AND - data feed fee to the charting software
Thanks for the input, I'm a longtime user of Tradingview, I pay $15/Mo., and I don't trade futures (no need to pay for extra data fees), for my charting needs the real time data of TV is sufficient. I read everywhere of 5$ , $10 and $30 /Monthly bundles on IB that's why i'm confused with the minimum real time data package I can get. i'm not eligible to IBKR Lite but just out of curiosity, do you know if Lite users get real time data?.
Thank you, that is one of my guesses because the pricing seems to be a bit off, i'll try contacting them.
Your reply is too soon: I deleted my message because I saw that you were talking about some other data subscription than I had in mind. I am not trading options and don't know exactly what subscription you need for that.
I don't have any data subscription at the moment, and when I launch the subscription data manager that's the minimum/base package showing.
I see. I have an IB account and am not in the US (neither am I a US national). The base data subscription is 10 USD/month. And you get that fee reimbursed one month later if your account value exceeds a certain threshold (I believe at 100 k USD).
Thank you, that's a very valuable information for me since you are not US based. I'll contact support tomorrow to check for alternatives.
Thanks again! I was actually missclasified as professional, after days of fiddling the menu I couldn't find the settings for that and now I found it!
