Last time I drove a Cargo van was i the early 90s when they had the Dodge astro van etc.. back then those things felt like driving a tin box about to fall apart and the motors ran like shit and they just handled poorly as well. Anyhow decades later need a van to pick up some stuff. Trip about 120 miles. Vehicle had like 118,000 miles for this 2016 transit. And you know how rental type vehicles get treated much harder. I was expecting the worst. I was very impressed. The engine was smooth and sweet, nice idle as well. It handled quite amazingly for such a long tall cargo van. Also it was quiet and very comfortable drive zero backpain etc tons of visibility and felt up high in a fishbowl. My wife thought it was funny how much I liked it. I am seriously considering one for utility use etc.. It handles very well in tough city and highway traffic. Is Transit really Ford? Or is it some kind of rebadge? I am real impressed I have not expected such a solid product and the pricing for them is very reasonable, its like a pickup but totally enclosed and cheaper that shorter bed pickups
It has been around for a very long time. Was a Euro thing until a few years ago when Ford brought it to the US. I also had the need to rent a U-Haul van about 2 years ago. Brand-new model though, and of course, since it was new, it was tight and perky. Your results do not surprise me though, with its 118K on it. Here's a primer, with some giggles in it.
