Reuters editor apologizes, could be disciplined after blaming Capital Gazette shooting on Trump

A top editor at Reuters apologized on Thursday night after blaming President Trump for the deadly Capital Gazette shooting in a now-deleted tweet that was sent during a “state of emotional distress,” but he might still be disciplined by the international news service.

Reuters Breakingviews Editor Rob Cox admitted that he “responded emotionally and inappropriately” after being called out for jumping to conclusions prior to the facts emerging. Police said the suspected gunman, eventually identified as Jarrod W. Ramos, targeted the newspaper after a lengthy feud regarding a 2012 defamation lawsuit.

“This is what happens when @realDonaldTrump calls journalists the enemy of the people. Blood is on your hands, Mr. President. Save your thoughts and prayers for your empty soul,” Cox wrote in the deleted tweet, according to TheWrap.

(More at above url - read about the editor groveling for forgiveness to avoid being fired for being an idiot.)

  3. In all fairness, Hannity also jumped to incorrect conclusions too early. Not sure is he has apologized...

  4. The Reuters guy did not jump to the incorrect conclusion. And the 'thoughts and prayers' mumblings from Donald And FLOTUS indicate pretty strongly they are keeping their heads down.

  5. Lefties run their mouth at every opportunity to (falsely) cast blame. More of them should suffer the consequences of Kathy Griffin.

Hannity is an opinion person (what does that tell ya?) whereas Reuters is presumed to be a neutral, news reporting organization.

    There is a difference.

And yes, Hannity should apologize. Not that it would matter, really.

And Maxine Waters is still batshit crazy.

  7. Nothing will happen to him obviously but an editor who erroneously and with no evidence blamed the President of the United States personally for a mass shooting seems way too unstable to hold such a job.

  8. Hahahaha.

Does does the same apply to the guy with the nuclear weapons for his remarks?

Donny is complicit in this, everyone knows it, end of story. Reuters makes it's living by being center in appearance, that is the editor's only problem.

The neurotic hyperbole generated through social media and the instant mass ECN dissemination of commentary-oriented news items from all aspects of the political spectrum is a very negative development in our society.

This is NOT a healthy thing. This does NOT advance the collective cause of a compassionate well-intentioned society.

  10. So you say tell Trump to get off Twitter we assume the Bone? Time for him to lead the way?
