RIP Bogle. As a retail investor, he will be greatly missed. No one has done more to retail investor than this man.

John Bogle was certainly one of the great innovators on Wall Street, particularly for the general investing public. .

Thomas Peterffy is in the same league for traders

  5. Retail investors love John Bogle for giving them a cheaper and better alternative. Active fund managers probably hate him secretly for exposing them as more expensive but less competent parasites who deserved to be sacked 10 years ago. Most active managers deserve to be sacked based on relative performance to the index funds that John Bogle created for retail investors. Thank you, John Bogle, for exposing these money managers as parasites.

can you imagine how difficult it is to manage hundreds of billions and track the index so effectively. It wasn’t just an idea. It was brilliant execution of a sophisticated asset management platform.

  7. John Bogle and Thomas Peterffy are giants who created lots of value in the financial industry. Can't say the same for active money managers who lost to cheaper and better index funds.

Some great statements here, but don't forget Charles Schwab.
( The man, not the company...!)

Bogle advocating for index funds and keeping the expenses for oneself clearly did more for others than anyone else mentioned here!
