I have NOT shorted a stock since I was prop-trading in the '90s. Today finally it all came together and I have shorted 100 shares of PING. A third of the short trade was amazingly mostly in pieces of 1 share. Is this normal/usual? Anyway, this was only an exercise, and see how Schwab shorting works. I made 27 cents due to Schwab price improvement.(I could have shorted 1000 shares with margin)
I don't think seeing the 1 share fills has anything to do with you shorting. I am seeing a large amount of odd lot trades in the single digits in the positions I trade and follow. It could be Robinhood traders or maybe since some brokers now let people own less than one share that is what we are seeing.
