I am thinking about getting a soundblaster sound card for my new pc because i heard the internal sound card takes up system resources.

I use a service that feeds constant audio to my computers, but would a new stand alone sound card really make a difference?

What are your guys thoughts on this?

In a word no. you will never notice the few cpu cycles difference. I have even seen tests where separate pci cards actually take more resources mostly because of Creative's bloated drivers, but that was during gaming. It might sound a little better playing games or music (depending on the quality of your speakers) but that about all there is to be gained.
