does anyone have an opinion on this? I do both, but if I had to choose one I think it would be SPY for since it has the spectrum of stocks and not so tech heavy. I am interested in thoughts on this.
Trade the broad market only, the SPX Don't bother trading, studying, picking, analyzing individual stocks companies It's overall much easier that way, and more profitable and manageable SPX options are the most liquid. It can handle huge fills and volume
yeah... I know that all the pro's trade SPY and not QQQ, it just makes sense. I will stick to SPY, there is plenty of opportunity daily. QQQ is going to heavily depend on just a few tech stocks
The percentage movement in the index is the deciding factor. It matters not that the SPX tracks 500 issues and the QQQ tracks 100.... or whether or not it's "tech heavy".
I think it depends how you interpret the volatility. The cubes make larger moves than the spiders. So it may be easier to achieve a more favorable risk/reward with the cubes. However, you need a stop large enough to avoid getting stopped out more quickly. For smaller traders I'd go with the more favorable risk/reward.
