All this talk of a strike and ramifications of what's to come and as you can see wallstreet doesn't give a fu#k. This has been making rounds for weeks and yet nothing even putting any pressure on equities. How many are worried, yep no one. No one even cares what's happening and if they do strike it will last maybe some days and the government will step in and just smooth things out, so just sleep tight tonight and by tomorrow morning if you have to wait an extra day or two or possibly 3 for your kitty litter or a pair of slacks just be patient.. .

Ohhh noooo they didn't even accept a 50% increase in wages over the next 6 years!!

Anyone know how much these guys get paid?

I mean didnt they say inflation is down to 3%, i guess a 50% increase in wages isnt enough over 6 years ....

    And they strike.

but no worries, they will be back at the job in no time. This might last a day or 2. Maybe a week but have no fear as these strikes are usually worked out pretty quickly.

In a last-ditch effort on Monday to avert a strike that will cause significant harm to the U.S. economy if it is lengthy — at least hundreds of millions of dollars a day at the largest ports like New York/New Jersey — the USMX offered a nearly 50% wage hike over six years, but that was rejected by the ILA, according to a source close to the negotiations. The port ownership group said it hoped the offer would lead to a resumption of collective bargaining.

I am a bit torn......On the one hand I think that they should get wage increases.

On the other hand, the President of the ILA union sounds like a luddite.

privatize the ports and automate. the port workers need to be engineers, not high school dropouts.
