Thoughts on Apple's plans to launch a fully self-driving car in 2025? https://finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-car-coming-tesla-had-114904381.html And thoughts on the coming Tesla cell phone? https://www.igeekphone.com/tesla-model-pi-smartphone-will-launch-with-starlink-technology/
These companies are now very large as measured by market cap, and expected to continue high rates of annual revenue growth (and already starting from a high threshold). As a result, these companies are forced to venture into other high-TAM markets to keep the revenue growth going. With that all said, if the Tesla/Starlink phone is successful, then Verizon, T-Mobile, etc will probably be a slam-dunk shorting opportunity.
Actually there’s already a bit of an ecosystem for sat phones, which could make a Tesla venture interesting. However, I don’t think it makes sense for Tesla to launch a phone — they should launch a chip (to access sat network) and a service (compete with ISP and telecom).
Why not? It is difficult for modern companies to surprise us with anything, and of course they must go to a new level in order to attract attention (including investors) and go to some new levels. In fact, it really matters because the economic demands have become much higher and you need to work significantly more to stay afloat. I think that if this happens, then the level of the company's shares will rise significantly higher, so if they are serious about this, then I would definitely pay attention to this, it has tremendous potential for the future. Although it is already difficult for us to be surprised at anything, so let's see how interesting and productive this project will be.
