It’s no longer a pandemic of the unvaccinated. For the first time, a majority of Americans dying from the coronavirus received at least the primary series of the vaccine. Fifty-eight percent of coronavirus deaths in August were people who were vaccinated or boosted, according to an analysis conducted for The Health 202 by Cynthia Cox, vice president at the Kaiser Family Foundation. It’s a continuation of a troubling trend that has emerged over the past year. As vaccination rates have increased and new variants appeared, the share of deaths of people who were vaccinated has been steadily rising. In September 2021, vaccinated people made up just 23 percent of coronavirus fatalities. In January and February this year, it was up to 42 percent, per our colleagues Fenit Nirappil and Dan Keating. “We can no longer say this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated,” Cox told The Health 202. Being unvaccinated is still a major risk factor for dying from covid-19. But efficacy wanes over time, and an analysis out last week from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention highlights the need to get regular booster shots to keep one’s risk of death from the coronavirus low, especially for the elderly. Vaccinated people now make up a majority of covid deaths (msn.com)
Finally we get a single month (August) where the unvaccinated deaths are lower than the vaccinated deaths. Finally the Covid vaccination rate has risen to the point in the U.S. where the unvaccinated deaths have dropped to the point where this inversion is possible (which is actually a goal). However it is important to keep the concept of base rate fallacy in mind -- and understand that from the death rate per number of unvaccinated people is still an order of magnitude above the death rate per number of vaccinated & boosted people in the U.S. Another point to keep in mind that for the under 60 age group -- unvaccinated deaths still account for over 95% of the Covid deaths. These deaths among prime age adults are easily preventable via Covid vaccination. As pointed out in the data -- only a small portion of people are fully vaccinated with boosters to achieve the maximum protection in the U.S. A good portion of deaths involve people who are not boosted. Anti-vaxxers should not be crowing over this information - in fact it demonstrates quite the opposite of the misinformation they are attempting to peddle. The CDC and public officials should be using it to show the effectiveness of vaccines and urge people to get boosted in order to prevent serious death and illness. To close let's look at the conclusions from the article --- Let’s take a look at deaths in August, when the highly contagious BA.5 variant reached its peak: That month, unvaccinated people aged 6 months and older died at about six times the rate of those who had received their primary series of shots. People with one booster dose were even better protected. Unvaccinated people over the age of 5 had about 8 times the risk of dying from a coronavirus infection than those who received a booster shot. Among individuals who were eligible to receive additional booster shots, the gap is even more striking. Unvaccinated people 50 and up had 12 times the risk of dying from covid-19 than adults the same age with two or more booster doses.
It amazing that anti-vaxxers try to claim that every death involves Covid vaccination. So just to be clear the death of Dr. Oveta Fuller did not involve Covid vaccination side-effects or having Covid. https://tntribune.com/prominent-virologist-and-ame-itinerant-elder-dr-a-oveta-fuller-dies-at-age-67/ It's sort of sad to see anti-vaxxers fabricate this nonsense time after time again. And every time they are proven to be shoveling nonsense.
That is such an annoying stat-line, because it works both ways. For crying out loud, how do we really know what the people died from? There is only ONE cause of death, and that is heart failure. So what caused the heart to fail? Did the unvaccinated person test positive for COVID and also have a failure of both kidneys? Did a vaccinated person test positive for COVID and also have a failure of both kidneys? So which of those two people "died from COVID", and which died from kidney failure? This is the failure of the whole fucking system.
I guess sucking on the ventilator and all the breathing issues has nothing to do with the death when they have Covid. To the medical professionals working in Covid wards in hospitals across the U.S. the cause of death is obvious — and the “we don’t really know what they died from” narrative holds no water.
But did they test them for anything ELSE?!? That is what bothers me about these death certificates. Do not mark them down as death by COVID unless you, as the coroner, can prove that they died from a bronchial issue caused by COVID. RSV causes the same symptoms, has the same effect, especially in the elderly and immuno-compromised! Was it COVID or RSV?
Lets do some really simple math. Example1: Total deaths; 58% were vaccinated, 42% were unvaccinated Example2: 90% of the population are vaccinated, 10% of population are not vaccinated. Example3: we have a total population of 100 million people. Example4: 1% of population die of covid = 1 million dead. 90 million vaccinated people 10 million unvaccinated people 42% deaths of 1 million = 1mil x 0.1 x 0.42 = 42,000 dead unvaccinated. 58% deaths of 1 million = 1mil x 0.9 x 0.58 = 58,000 dead vaccinated. That's how you get more vaccinated deaths, by skewing the numbers so it give a false impression that vaccinated people are more likely to die. The real figure is: 42,000 div by 10mil unvaccinated = 0.0042 58,000 div by 90mil vaccinated = 0.0006444 The result is 85% more of the population unvaccinated are likely to die than those vaccinated. As usual, as always, OP is full it.
The way the tabulate Covid deaths is they determine if you tested for positive for Covid in the previous 30 days. If you did test positive, and you died, they claimed you died from Covid, regardless if your death was caused by Covid or not. In the early stages of Covid, they did this with 100% of deaths. Then they had a few high profile cases where it was obvious Covid had nothing to do with the death. For instance, one guy got killed riding a motorcycle. If you die of stroke, heart attack, cancer, kidney failure, etc., they will chalk it up to Covid death regardless of your medical history. That is why the Covid death toll is completely inflated and not accurate at all. There is a big difference between dying with Covid and dying from Covid, but the number that is reported does not differentiate between the two. To make matters worst, they will test people who have already died regardless if you had Covid symptoms before death. So if someone drops dead from a heart attack, a lot of times, they will test them post mortem. Of course, this Covid is not terribly accurate and there are lots of false positive, which inflates the bogus number more.
