Wall Street, like all of capitalism, has its excesses. But substitute capitalism for democracy in the below quote:- ‘Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…’ Winston S Churchill, 11 November 1947
The video was more about unbridled greed. Capitalism is good. But unfettered capitalism is uncivilized and ultimately self-defeating. It's a question of degree: determining the sweet spot of regulation.
Agree but I'd say Reich overplayed how much Asher Edelman believes things were/are rigged. Paint with a broad brush. Junk bond market yes, stocks, options, futures and high grade or muni bonds on regulated open exchanges no.
Bad capitalism starts wars (or pandemics) to cause a massive boom bust cycle with a boom of price gouging (inflation). Patrick Byrne exposed weaponized naked short selling. Monopolies, crony capitalism are a rejection of competition and freedom.
Reich is you typical rich Berkeley leftist. All platitudes of equality except when it comes to their own finances and suddenly he is just another bay area NIMBY blocking any new housing built in the SF bay area.
So you're saying democracy don't have the same issues? Politicians don't have greed and excessive power tendencies?
Funny I was thinking the same of you. Are you one? Do me a favor and ignore me. Puleaaze thin-skinned, outrage much.
