What platform do you guys use to backtest? Looking for code-free testing, if possible.

  1. I was just wondering what do you guys use to backtest.

I really dont want to code, and I would prefer some user-friendly options to backtest.

There are a number of no-code backtesting platforms available, which allow you to backtest your trading strategy without having to write any code. Here are a few recommendations:
    • BacktestZone is a free platform that offers a wide range of features, including the ability to backtest stocks, ETFs, currencies, and cryptocurrencies. It also has a user-friendly interface and a large library of pre-built strategies.
    • Tradewell is another popular no-code backtesting platform. It offers a variety of features, including the ability to backtest complex strategies, optimize your parameters, and generate detailed performance reports. Tradewell also offers a free trial, so you can try it out before you commit to a paid subscription.
    • TrendSpider is a powerful backtesting platform that offers a wide range of features, including the ability to backtest multiple strategies simultaneously, optimize your parameters, and generate detailed performance reports. TrendSpider also offers a variety of educational resources, so you can learn how to backtest your strategies effectively.
In addition to these no-code backtesting platforms, there are also a number of trading brokers that offer backtesting capabilities. For example, Interactive Brokers offers a backtesting tool called IB AlgoTrader, and TradingView offers a backtesting tool called TradingView Strategy Tester.

If you are new to backtesting, I recommend starting with a free no-code platform like BacktestZone or Tradewell. Once you have learned the basics of backtesting, you can then upgrade to a more powerful platform like TrendSpider or IB AlgoTrader.

Here are some tips for backtesting your trading strategy:
    • Use historical data that is at least 5 years old. This will give you a good sample size to test your strategy against.
    • Backtest your strategy on multiple asset classes and timeframes. This will help you to understand how your strategy performs in different market conditions.
    • Optimize your strategy parameters to improve its performance.
    • Forward test your strategy on a live trading account before using it to trade with real money.
Backtesting is an important step in developing a successful trading strategy. By backtesting your strategy thoroughly, you can identify any potential weaknesses and make necessary improvements.

We can do stock only although we are mainly an options backtesting platform.
Our near end of day data goes back to 2007.
We have entry indicators that include technical indicators and options information.
We have the same exit indicators, and we have exits based on profit and other considerations.
