Good morning, Just wondering what your thoughts are as to what in the world will break the massive bull market we are seeing? I have for the most part not participated in much of this rally unfortunately but it seems to boggle my mind as to the why or how markets can continue to advance in spite of our economy. Could it be that we wake up one day and see the dollar no longer used as the world's reserve currency? I don't know for how long the fed can print money to pay for our own debts and get away with it. Could this be 'the event' that will trigger massive selling? What do you think will break this bull market? And, how are you preparing for any 'potential' bear market? Dave
It is the time frame that really matters. We might see a slump in prices/ profit taking when unemployment gets out of hand/ housing prices slump again/ any international trigers. On a multi year basis, you could see dow doubling in 10-15 yrs.
Actually though, historically, next quarter should be down and trend down based on presidential cycles. But based on seasonality indicators we should end up high for the year. So buy the dips? In conclusion, the market goes up and down.
If history is an example real inflation will easily kill this rally. Stocks in India and China don't grow now because of real inflation despite huge real economy growth
this is the thing - people keep talking about history and past analysis. its all irrelevant because we've never had the fed backstop the markets like this before in history.
