Hey Guys, I used to use free Reports from the Big4+TDAs Recommendations, but I'm currently reviewing some Industry Reports Provider. I'm tending to sign up with IBIS, it's not unexpensive (250 USD/month) but post Corona it might be a wise Investment, since I believe Industry Supply Chains will be reshaped which in Turn will disrupt Industries. In addition Working from Home and the lack of a Vaccine might bankrupt/consolidate some Industries. My Question would be, how do you do your DD on a Industrial Level? Do you have some sources/providers you'd like to share?
I'm new to the trading game but I spent 20 yrs in private equity. IBIS has let me down numerous times on Industry and Company specific reports. I would pass on them. My 2 cents
For instance, one report I purchased in the energy space directly covered a company we owned, and the data, assumptions and industry trends were inaccurate. I paid $2,800 for that report. It seemed to have been written by someone who googled data vs. digging deeply into the industry. Disclaimer --> I'm a beginner in trading. I'm using Finviz and Docoh to do my research
What do you mean by data was inacurate for the company you guys bought? Because from what the Introduction showed me, they report on Industry LvL. I liked that they would post macroeconomic indicators by Industry and go along the whole supply chain. Also the price was alright 2500 Euro for a whole year with access to all US Reports was a nice change from the 2500 USD per Sector report
Market was $17bn reported as $5bn; out of top 10 industry competitors, 5 or 6 were not even ranked in the top 100 companies in the space. They were showing certain product growth rates at 10-15% CAGR while we clearly knew these products were sunsetting. Again, this is just my opinion, but I wouldn't rely much on these reports (maybe only for a cursory overview of an industry). Hope this helps
