Dear Members, Currently I trade over Wi-Fi but it happens to be unstable and slow. I live in a remote area where the fiber optic is not an option. My current cellular operator doesn't provide high quality signals, Therefore I am looking to switch for another one. Looking to trade over 4G rather than Wi-Fi Did some Download / Upload test and current 4G is better than Wi-Fi However when I monitor my trading platform's network activity, I have double the activity (B/Sec) over Wi-Fi than 4G. 4G should be more performant but in practice, it is not. Do you think it's because of my current 4G degraded reception ? Do you think it's wise to trade over 4G, in my case ? Thanks. Edit: I plan to turn my Smart Phone into a Hotspot Maybe a USB or a Modem should be more appropriate ? Starlink isn't an option currently. xD Or maybe ?
Your wireless connection to the router should be better than your 4G/phone connection. That is the norm at least. I would look at the router in order to see why you have such a poor WI-FI performance. Things to consider: - ISP routers are of the worst quality, get a proper router and connect it to the ISP's via Ethernet. I can recommend the one I've got (TP-Link Archer C6 - AC1200 Router WIFi). That should improve your wireless connection. If you do that, don't forget to disable wireless networks on the ISP router and connect to the new one. - Run a speed test, you can get one from Google directly, it will tell you your connection details. Sometimes your download speed is fine but your upload one is throttled. - Check your WIFI channel, some channels behave better than others, the TP-link router has an option that looks for the best channel based on performance. - Check your computer's network card, it should be fine, most handle enough bandwidth to handle trading actions but upgrading to a newer one could improve your signal. I wouldn't use a 4G connection for anything critical, try to fix your WIFI first.
That's my cable internet over Wi-Fi benchmarks Should be enough but still it's unstable. Might consider another package ... Another router and an ethernet cable WIFI channel should be fine as there's no one around me. Networkcard should also be fine (Dual-Band Wireless-AC 8265)
You said WIFI benchmarks, it might be all related, can you try the same test using an Ethernet cable? Disable your WIFI all together, just to check what your ISP is really giving you
What about the starlink internet? It should be available in a large region of Europe. Not cheap, but i assume it would be much better than what you currently have.
