It's still not as big as the Galveston Hurricane that happened in 1900 that killed 12,000 people. or the Great Hurricane of 1780 that killed 22,000 people In fact, if you go by the worst hurricanes ever, they actually seem to be getting milder and killing less people.
thanks mainly to weather tracking systems I would assume. Those 22,000 killed in Galveston probably didn't even know what a hurricane was back in 1780, let alone that they were about to get pummeled by one until it was too late.
