Schadenfreude, "delighting in others' misfortune". Many studies on Schadenfreude are based on social comparison theory, the idea that when people around us have bad luck, we look better to ourselves. Other researchers have found that people with low self-esteem are more likely to feel schadenfreude than are people who have high self-esteem.

  2. I agree with that 100%.
In fact, I know it's true. Because I've been guilty of feeling "schandenfreude" once in a while myself, especially in my younger years.
    :p

  3. I can't believe all of the gaps on AAPL.

What the H causes same? Is it a hustle? Is it "manipulation" ala the old bucket shop paradigm.

I am thinking back to whether we saw this many gaps back in the 80s and 90s? Maybe we did and my memory has declined - LOL

  4. You don't even need to go back that far iceman1.
Check out the 6 MONTH Trading Range for AAPL last year on the attached chart.
It had a Low of 329.91 and a High of 422.94, for a range of 28.20%.

AAPL's current Neurotically Choppy, Bull vs Bear, Hedge Fund Manager Manipulated 6 WEEK range has a Low of 505.75 and a High of 594.59.
This equals a range of a mere 17.56%!

The fun has only just begun?

  5. This is a tough market for a smaller trader to deal with...

Like many on ET I am considered fairly "smart" in other walks of life and my profession. However since I did not study mind-reading in school I cannot figure out this nonsense. It really is not much better than a crap table, or certainly, a blackjack table!

Trying to figure out what computers and their hedge fund scum or HFT programmers might decide to do on any given day + the option pinning manipulation shell game each week unlike in the past when it was only once a month and before than every 3-months.

Like we really need weekly options to gamble on. This country has lost its soul with casinos, lotteries and weekly option gambling. Doesn't stand for anything good anymore - in my humble opinion.

  6. IP5 is a disappointment. Buying a Galaxy Note 2 today and bought a Nexus 7 for my oldest for Xmas.

  7. My wife was wanting a tablet smaller than her ipad. I tried to talk her into the Nexus 7. She ended up buying the ipad mini tho. She never listens to me. There is absolutely no way the mini is worth $100+ more than the 7.

  8. I am a fan of iOS, but want a larger screen on my phone that Apple is unwilling to provide. Also the 7 has a quad-core and better rez.

  9. Apple left themselves a pretty clear upgrade path with the mini.

  10. Are you saying that you are certain the market is a negative sum?

As for the weekly options, what do you think of those that are deep ITM?
